Our office is tucked away at 263/A Soares Vaddo in Marna, which is a quiet part of Siolim. If you know the area in Bardez, you know it gets quite green and messy when the monsoon hits Goa. Shriram Transport Finance Co. Ltd. stays busy with people coming in from the nearby villages to talk about their trucks and tempos. We have a few desks and some old cupboards filled with files. It isn't a flashy place with glass walls or anything. We mostly drink a lot of tea and look at numbers on the screen all day. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit and talk until the generator kicks in or the lights come back. The road outside can get a bit narrow so parking is always a small headache for the visitors. We spend most of our time explaining paperwork to drivers who just want to get back on the road. It is a lot of talk about interest and monthly payments and how the transport business is doing lately. Everyone here knows each other's names. We don't use big words or try to act like we are in a big city office. We are just here in Siolim helping folks get their vehicles sorted. It stays humid but we are used to it by now. The day usually ends with us locking up and heading home through the trees.
