Seascan Marine Foundation

Seascan Marine Foundation is based out of House No. J-502, Castle Rock in the Odxel area of Panjim. We’re pretty close to the water, which makes sense given the kind of things we keep an eye on. It’s a nice spot, though the stairs up to J-502 can be a bit of a workout on a hot afternoon. We aren't a big organization with a lot of staff. Usually, it's just a couple of us sitting in the office surrounded by maps and old maritime charts. We started this because we’ve spent our lives around the North Goa coast and wanted to give something back to the sea. The office is often full of sand because we’re coming and going from the beach so much. We don't wear suits or anything like that. Shorts and flip-flops are the standard uniform here. People in Landscape Town know where to find us if they have questions about the local waters. We spend a lot of time talking to fishermen and folks who live along the shore. It’s slow work and sometimes it feels like we aren't making a dent, but we stay at it. We don't have a fancy website or a marketing team. We just have this one room in Castle Rock and a lot of passion for what’s happening in the ocean right outside our door. Sometimes we forget to answer emails because we're out on a boat, but we eventually get back to everyone.
