Modern Clinic

If you know Mapusa, you probably know the Aldona Taxi Stand. We are located right near there, opposite the Mapusa Urban Co-operative Bank. It’s a very busy corner of Goa. You can hear the taxi drivers calling out and the engines running all day long. The bank across the street always has people lining up, especially in the mornings. Our clinic is right in the thick of it. The front door stays open most of the time to let a bit of a breeze in, though it also lets in the street noise and dust. We have some plastic chairs in the waiting area that have seen better days. The walls are painted a light blue that has faded over the years. We see a lot of people who are just passing through the market or waiting for their bus or taxi. It’s a convenient spot for them to stop in. We don’t have any fancy air conditioning, just the ceiling fans that stay on from morning till night. The floor is made of old stone that stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We keep a big water pot for anyone who is thirsty. It’s not a polished medical center; it’s just a local clinic where we do our best to help whoever comes in. Dealing with the traffic and the noise is just part of our daily routine here in Mapusa. We've been here for a long time now.
