Up here in the Tivim Industrial Estate at 16-A, things are a bit quieter than the coastal areas of Goa. We are based in Karswada, and most of us commute in from the nearby villages every morning. The work we do involves lenses and optical stuff, so we have to keep the place relatively clean, which is a struggle with all the red dust outside. We have these benches set up where we spend most of our hours. It’s repetitive work, but you get into a rhythm after a while. The morning air is actually nice before the sun gets too high over the estate. We usually bring our own lunches and sit together in the small break area we cleared out in the corner. There’s an old radio that mostly plays local news. We don’t really have many visitors, mostly just delivery trucks and the occasional courier. Our building is easy to spot if you know the estate, but first-timers usually get lost near the entrance. We have some heavy machinery that hums all day long. It becomes a background noise you don't even notice after a few months. Sometimes we stay late to finish a batch if the power was flickering during the day. It’s just honest work, nothing fancy or polished about how we spend our time here in Karswada.
