Goa Animal Care Centre

We are located over in Salcete, specifically in the Bansai area near the old police station. It’s a quiet enough spot most days, though things get pretty loud once the dogs start barking at feeding time. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a practical place where we can keep the animals safe and get them looked after. We spend a lot of time cleaning floors and making sure there’s enough water in the bowls. It’s messy work, and there’s usually some fur on our clothes no matter how much we brush off. People bring in strays or pets that aren't feeling well, and we do what we can with the space we have. There’s always a smell of antiseptic and wet dog, but you stop noticing that after the first hour. It’s not like a regular office job where you sit still; we’re constantly on our feet, moving crates or trying to catch a cat that doesn't want to be caught. The neighbors are used to us by now, and having the old police station nearby makes it easy for people to find where we are located. It’s a bit of a trek for some folks coming from the center of town, but we’ve stayed here because it’s where we’re needed. Every day brings something different, usually involving a lot of cleaning and a few scratches. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing.
