Our clinic is up on the first floor of the Kamat Centre, right on D B Marg in Panjim. If you know the area, it's a pretty central spot. Being on the first floor means people have to use the stairs or the lift, which can be a bit of a pain if your back is hurting, but we try to help them in. The office is number 102. It’s a professional space but it’s got a bit of a lived-in feel to it. We have windows that look out towards the street, and the light is nice in the mornings. We deal with a lot of spine issues here, so we see people who are in a fair bit of discomfort. It makes the atmosphere a bit serious sometimes. We have some anatomical models on the desks to show people what’s going on with their joints. The waiting room has some old magazines and a water dispenser that occasionally makes a loud gulping noise. We aren't fancy. We just focus on the bones and the nerves. Panjim is a busy place, and we get a mix of office workers and people from the nearby villages. Our schedule is usually pretty packed, so there’s a lot of checking the watch and moving to the next appointment. It’s good work though. It feels useful to help someone stand up straighter or walk without a limp. We just stay focused on the patients and the daily tasks.
