Yasmeen Zari House

You can find us in Jaffrabad, right on Street Number 48 B. We are just across from the Khajoor Wali Masjid, which makes it easier for people to find us. It’s a busy street and our shop is tucked in there at J 34/4. We do zari work, which is something we have been doing for a long time. It’s traditional work with needles and thread on fabric. The shop is small and often full of rolls of cloth and different types of thread. We sit on the floor and work on the designs ourselves. It takes a lot of patience and steady hands. People come to us when they have a wedding or a special occasion and want something unique for their clothes. We don't have any big signs or fancy lights outside. Most people find us because they live nearby or heard about us from a neighbor or relative. The area is always crowded with people and rickshaws moving about. It’s a lively place to work. Sometimes we are working late into the evening to finish a piece on time. It’s hard on the eyes, but we like the final result. We don’t use machines for everything; a lot of it is done by hand. It’s a simple way of living. We’ve been part of this street for many years now. The mosque nearby is a good landmark if you are looking for our small door.
