B1/235 Yamuna Vihar is where we set up. It’s a busy spot, especially in the evenings when everyone is out doing their shopping. The clinic itself is tucked away a bit, but most people find us okay once they know the landmark. We’ve had the same staff for a few years now, so we all know each other’s habits. The waiting room isn’t very big, so it can get a bit cramped if three or four families show up at once. We usually have the radio playing in the background to drown out the traffic noise from the street outside. It’s mostly general checkups and people coming in with fevers or stomach bugs. We spend a lot of time just talking to the neighbors who drop in even when they aren’t sick, just to say hello. The floors are white tile and we spend half the day mopping them because of the dust that blows in from the road. Sometimes the computer acts up and we have to write things down by hand, which takes a bit longer. We try to see everyone who walks in, even if it means staying a bit past the closing time. It’s not a fancy setup with a lot of glass and chrome, just a practical place to get looked at. Most of our patients live within walking distance, so we see the same faces year after year. It feels more like a part of the community than a business, really.
