The Leprosy Mission Community Hospital

You can find us at the Stanley Browne Laboratory, which is part of The Leprosy Mission Community Hospital. We are located in the Nand Nagri area of Shahdara. Our work is pretty specific and we have been doing it for a very long time. The building itself shows its age, but it’s a place where a lot of important things happen every day. In the laboratory, we are busy with tests and looking at samples. It’s a quiet place because the work requires a lot of focus. Shahdara is a crowded part of town, so there is always a lot of noise and movement just outside our gates. Inside the community hospital, things move at their own pace. We aren't a fancy private facility with marble floors. It’s a practical place built for a purpose. We see people who really need help, and that keeps us busy from morning until night. Sometimes it’s a bit overwhelming with the number of people who come through, but the staff here is used to the pressure. We just do our jobs and try to keep everything running as well as we can. The lab is where we spend most of our hours, surrounded by equipment and files. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. We’ve been part of the Nand Nagri landscape for decades. Usually, we are here until the last sample is cleaned and all the lights are finally turned off.
