About Sukhmani Sewa Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in North East Delhi
East Gorakh Park is one of those places where everyone seems to know everyone's business. We are tucked away in Gali Number 6, specifically at 1/7602 on the second floor. The street is pretty narrow, so you have to be careful if you’re driving a car down here. Usually, it’s easier to just walk or take a cycle rickshaw. Sukhmani Sewa Foundation started because we saw things in our own backyard that needed fixing. It’s not a glamorous setup. We have some old chairs and a table that wobbles if you lean on it too hard. The air gets quite thick in the summer, but we have a small cooler that does its best. Most of our day is spent dealing with people from the neighborhood. It’s busy, loud, and sometimes a bit overwhelming. We don't have a big budget for fancy things, so we make do with what we’ve got. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit there talking until it comes back on. It’s a real community feel, though. You can hear the neighbors cooking and the kids shouting outside while we work. We aren't trying to be anything we’re not. It’s just a local foundation run by people who actually live in the area. We do what we can with the time we have. It’s honest work, even if it’s exhausting some days. We just hope the ceiling fan holds up through the next heatwave.
