Nav India Khatik Unity Foundation is right at the corner of the Main Market in C-1/1, Bhajanpura. If you know Shahdara, you know how loud and busy this market is. We are right in the middle of all that action. There is always someone shouting, a horn honking, or the smell of street food drifting in. Our office is a small place where we gather to talk about unity and how to help the community. It’s not a fancy corporate building, just a room with some plastic chairs and a big table. We don't have air conditioning, so the ceiling fan works overtime in the summer months. Most people just drop by because they saw our name on the door while they were shopping. We don't have a big budget for advertising, so we just talk to whoever comes in. The floor is a bit uneven, and the door creaks when you open it. It’s a real place for real people. We spend a lot of time drinking tea and listening to what folks have to say. It’s how we stay connected to what’s happening in the streets. We aren't trying to be anything other than a local foundation that cares about its neighbors. It’s simple and it works for us. Even when the market is chaotic, our little corner feels right. We usually pack up when the market lights start coming on for the evening.
