Maurya General & Cloth Store

Maurya General & Cloth Store is located right in the heart of Khajuri Khas. It’s a combined shop because that’s what people in this neighborhood seem to need most. We have the daily general items on one side and then a whole section dedicated to different kinds of cloth on the other. It’s a bit of a mix, but it works for us and the locals here. The street outside is usually full of bikes and rickshaws, so it gets quite loud during the day. We open up early and usually stay until quite late in the evening. There isn't any fancy decor here, just wooden counters and rows of goods. Most of our customers are families who have lived in Khajuri Khas for generations. They come in for a bit of thread, some buttons, or a few meters of cloth for a new outfit. We try to keep a variety of colors so there is always something for everyone. Sometimes it gets a little dusty because of the road work nearby, but we spend a lot of time cleaning the glass cases. Dealing with both general goods and textiles keeps us on our toes. You never know if the next person wants a pack of biscuits or fabric for a wedding. It's a modest setup and we like it that way. We don't use any big words to describe what we do. It's just a shop where you get what you need for your home.
