We operate out of Yamuna Vihar at C-12/458 in the Ghonda area. It’s basically a residential building that we’ve set up for our mushroom work. Growing mushrooms is a very specific job because they’re sensitive to everything. We spend a lot of our time checking the temperature and making sure the rooms stay damp enough. It isn’t like a shop where you just put things on a shelf. We’re mostly focused on getting the mushrooms packed and sent out as soon as they’re ready. The rooms are often crowded with crates and big bags of growing material. It gets a bit tight when we have a large harvest coming in all at once. Our team is small, mostly family and some people from the neighborhood who help out. We don’t have a corporate office or people in suits. Most of the work is just physical labor like lifting heavy bags and sorting through the mushrooms. Yamuna Vihar is a crowded place, and sometimes the delivery rickshaws have a hard time getting through the narrow streets to our door. We’ve had times when the whole batch went bad because the weather got too hot, which is always a disappointment, but we just start again. It’s a constant learning process for us even after being at it for a while. We aren't trying to be some massive supplier. We just want to keep things moving and stay busy. That’s how we spend our days here.
