The Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium R D Design Centre is situated in Sudarsanpur, which is part of the Raiganj area in West Bengal. It’s a bit of a journey to get out here, but the surroundings are quite green compared to the big cities. Even though it is a government spot, the daily vibe is pretty down to earth. We spend a lot of time in the labs and the design rooms. The building has that solid, older architecture with high ceilings and wide hallways that echo when you walk. There is always some sort of experiment or testing going on, so you might hear the hum of machinery or the sound of metal being moved around. Most of the staff live nearby, so there is a lot of local talk during the lunch breaks. We have a small canteen where the food is simple and everyone sits together regardless of their job title. The office part has those old metal filing cabinets and heavy wooden desks that have been here for years. Outside, the weather in West Bengal can be quite unpredictable, with sudden rains that make everything damp. We just keep our heads down and get the research done. It’s a quiet place focused on the work, and we don't have much use for fancy furniture or modern decor. It’s just about the science and the daily routine. We leave when the sun starts going down.
