Varma Leather Factory & Tannery (P) Ltd. has been at 1426, Kashmere Gate for many years. If you have ever been to this part of the city, you know it is crowded and full of history. Working with leather is not a clean job. There is a lot of dust, and the smell of the hides is something you just get used to after a while. Our factory is not a showroom. It is a place where work actually happens. We have machines that have been running for decades and workers who know exactly how to handle the material. We do not have a polished front office with a receptionist. You are more likely to find us on the floor checking the batches. Kashmere Gate is a tough place to navigate, but it is where we belong. We produce what we need to and do not worry too much about the latest trends. It is about the quality of the leather and making sure the tanning process is done right. Some days the heat in the factory is quite something, but we just keep the fans going. We are not here to tell stories; we are here to make sure the orders are filled. It is a family-run sort of feeling even if we have grown over time. We just take it one day at a time, making sure the leather is up to the standard we have always had.
