You can find Som Leyland Stores up on the first floor of the Chawla Complex, which is at 215-A in Shakarpur. It’s not the easiest place to spot from the street if you aren't looking for the sign. We have a lot of shelves packed with different parts and bits for vehicles. It can get a bit disorganized when we're busy, with boxes sitting in the hallway, but we usually know where everything is. The stairs up to the office are a bit narrow, so carrying heavy items up and down can be a bit of a workout. We have been in this building for quite some time now. Most of the people who come to us are mechanics or drivers who need something specific to get back on the road. We don't do much retail browsing; it’s more of a place where you come in, ask for a part number, and we go find it in the back. Sometimes we have to order things in if they aren't on the shelf, which takes a few days. My partner and I handle the phone calls and the counter. It’s a lot of talking to people all day, which is fine. The lighting in the back could be better, but we manage with flashlights when we need to find something small. It is just a straightforward shop doing its job in Shakarpur, trying to keep things moving as best as we can without too much fuss and bother for anyone.
