Simran Cards & Arts is tucked away in Chawri Bazar on Kucha Road at 317. If you know this part of Delhi, you know how crowded and narrow the lanes are. It’s always a bit of a rush with the rickshaws and people carrying stacks of paper everywhere. Our shop is right in the middle of that energy. We spend most of our time dealing with ink, cardstock, and different designs that people need for their events. There is always a smell of fresh paper and printing in the air. We’ve been in this building for quite some time now. The walls are a bit old and the stairs are narrow, but it’s home for us. We don’t have any fancy sales pitch or a shiny showroom. It’s just a workspace where we get the orders ready. Every morning starts with opening the shutters and clearing the dust that settles overnight. Then the phone starts ringing or someone walks in from the street with a sample in their hand. Chawri Bazar is a tough place to work if you don't like noise, but we actually enjoy the chaos. It feels like things are moving. Our neighbors are mostly other printers or paper sellers, so we all know each other. We just focus on getting the prints right and making sure the card counts are correct before someone comes to pick them up. It’s honest work and we keep at it until the evening.
