Shanti Trading Company

Our place is tucked away at 126/3 Gali Jatwara, right near Pul Mithai in Sadar Bazar. If you’ve ever been to this part of town, you know it’s a maze. Getting things delivered here is always a bit of a headache because the lanes are so narrow. We spend a lot of time just coordinating with the cart pullers and making sure boxes get to where they need to go. Shanti Trading Company isn't a huge operation with hundreds of employees. It’s just us working out of this small space. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we are usually too busy to worry about that. We have stacks of items piled up to the ceiling most days. It gets really hot in the summer, so we have a couple of old fans that make a lot of noise but don't do much. We eat our lunch together in the back when there’s a quiet moment. Most of our day is spent on the phone or writing out bills by hand. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s what we do. People come and go, asking for prices or checking on their orders. We don't have a fancy website or a big sign. Most people find us because they’ve been coming here for years and know the way through the Gali. We just keep moving and trying to get the orders right.
