You can find Sawaria Impex at Shop No 88, which is on the second floor of Building No 1572 in Bhagirath Place, Chandni Chowk. Being on the second floor means we are a bit away from the street-level chaos, but the noise still reaches us. We deal with various items and spend our time moving different types of goods that come in from elsewhere and finding people who need them. The stairs up to the shop are narrow, and we often have to carry boxes up and down ourselves when the delivery guys are busy. The shop isn't big, but it’s filled with crates and packaging materials. We spend a lot of time on the phone or checking invoices to make sure everything is where it should be. Bhagirath Place is a tough place to work because it’s so congested, but we’ve been here long enough to get used to it. We don't have any fancy displays; mostly it’s just samples and stacks of inventory. Our day is usually a mix of drinking tea and talking to long-time customers who come up to see what new stock has arrived. It’s a very straightforward business. We don't use any complicated systems, just old-fashioned ledgers and a lot of hard work. Sometimes the weather makes it hard to move goods, especially during the monsoon, but we manage. We’re just a small part of the big market in Chandni Chowk, trying to keep our corner of Building 1572 running smoothly every day.
