We are based over in Shalimar Bagh, specifically in the AE block. The office is in the basement/ground area, which keeps it a bit cooler during those really hot Delhi summers. Trading is one of those things where you have to be ready for anything. One day it’s quiet and we are just updating ledgers, and the next day everyone is shouting on their mobiles because a delivery is stuck somewhere. It’s a lot of managing expectations and dealing with vendors. We don't have a big corporate lobby or anything like that. It’s mostly just us in a room with a few computers and some filing cabinets that have seen better days. We like being in Shalimar Bagh because it feels like a proper neighborhood. There are places to grab a quick snack nearby and it’s not as chaotic as the main markets, though it still gets busy. Our work involves a lot of checking prices and coordinating with transport people. We try to be careful with the details because even a small mistake in a bill can cause a lot of trouble later. It’s just a handful of us working here. We’ve learned over the years that patience is probably the most important part of this job. We just try to get the orders through and make sure everything is handled properly before the end of the day. It’s hard work, but it’s what we know. There's always tea being made in the corner and someone always has a story.
