Raj Electrical Works

We have been at this spot in the DDA flats behind the Hamdard building for a while now. It is a busy little corner of New Delhi. If you walk past Asaf Ali Road, you might find us working on some motor or fixing wires that got fried in the heat. Raj Electrical Works is basically just us in this small shop, G-10, surrounded by tools and spare parts that we keep organized as well as we can. Some days are really hectic with people coming in from the nearby flats with fans that stopped spinning or irons that won't heat up. We spend most of our time standing at the workbench. It gets dusty and loud with the traffic outside, but that is just how it is here. Sometimes the tea man comes by and we take a five-minute break, then it is back to the screwdrivers and testing boards. Well, we do not have a fancy setup. It is just a practical space where things get fixed. Most of our regulars know to just drop by and leave their stuff on the counter. Anyway, we have seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but the electrical issues stay pretty much the same. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until the sun goes down. There is always something that needs looking at, whether it is a small switch or a bigger machine brought in by someone.
