Kashmere Gate is always a bit of a madhouse, and Bara Bazar is right in the thick of it. Mnr Star Bearing Company has been sitting at 1/1068 for quite a while now. If you come by, you’ll see shelves stacked high with all kinds of bearings. It’s a bit dusty, and there’s always that smell of metal and industrial grease in the air, which is just part of the job. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most of our day is spent looking through catalogs or climbing ladders to find a specific part for a customer. It’s noisy outside with the rickshaws and the loaders moving stuff around, but we’re used to it. The office part is just a small desk in the corner where we keep the ledger and the phone. We get all sorts of people coming in, from mechanics looking for one small part to big buyers. We don't use a lot of fancy words here; we just know our stock. If we don’t have something, we usually know where to find it. The heat in the summer can be tough in these old buildings, but we just keep the fans going and stay busy. It’s a simple operation based on knowing what fits what. We’ve been part of this market for a long time, and we just like to get the job done without too much fuss. It is just steady, everyday work in the market.
