Matador Spares

Matador Spares is based at 982 Hamilton Road, right in the heart of the Kashmere Gate area. If you have ever been here, you know it is the place where everyone goes for vehicle parts. Our shop is full of metal bits, gaskets, and heavy boxes. It smells like oil and old iron, which I have grown to like over the years. We deal with parts that are sometimes hard to find for older models. The shelves are a bit dusty and the lighting is not the best, but we know exactly where every single nut and bolt is kept. I work here with two other guys who have been with me since the start. We spend a lot of time looking through thick catalogs to match part numbers. The street outside is always blocked with trucks loading and unloading. It is a noisy part of town but that is the nature of the spare parts business. We do not have a computer system for our inventory; we still write everything down in big registers. It might be old-fashioned, but it works for us and we have not made a mistake yet. Sometimes customers bring in a broken part and we have to dig through the back room to find a replacement. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning until late evening. We do not do any marketing, people just find us because we have been on Hamilton Road for so long.
