The shop at Burari Plot No 7 Himgiri Enclave is usually full of cars in various states of being fixed. At Maa Mahakali Motors, we don't have a showroom with shiny floors. Our floor is concrete and it’s covered in oil stains and tire marks. We spend our days under hoods or tucked under chassis with a flashlight. It’s loud because of the air compressors and the tools, and there is always the smell of gasoline and exhaust in the air. We work on all kinds of vehicles, from old family cars that have seen better days to newer ones that just need a quick check. There are parts stacked on the shelves and old tires piled up in the corner. We don't have a fancy waiting room with a TV. Most people just stand around and chat with us while we work or come back later when the job is done. It’s a hands-on life. Sometimes a bolt gets stuck and it takes an hour just to get it loose, which can be frustrating, but that’s part of the trade. We’ve been at Himgiri Enclave for a good while, and the people in Burari know they can just drop their car off and we will take a look at it. We use our hands and our brains to figure out why an engine is knocking or why the brakes are squealing. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy.
