This shop at 2891 Bahadur Garh Road has been in our family for a long time. Teliwara is a crowded part of Sadar Bazar, so it’s always noisy outside the front door. You have to watch your step with all the carts and people moving around in the narrow lanes. We deal with whatever stock comes in that week from the suppliers. It’s a narrow building, which is typical for this part of Old Delhi. My father and uncle spent their whole lives here, and now we’re the ones opening the heavy metal shutters every morning. The walls are stacked high with cardboard boxes. Half the time, we’re just moving things around to find exactly what someone asked for. It’s not organized like a modern mall or those big stores. We use old wooden desks and the fans stay on all day to keep the air moving through the shop. We know the neighbors well; we’ve all been on this street for years. Customers come from all over to pick up their wholesale supplies. Some days are just pure chaos, especially around the festival seasons when the whole market gets packed tight. We don't do much advertising. People just know where we are by word of mouth. If you’re looking for us, just look for the old sign near the corner. We drink a lot of tea while waiting for the delivery boys to unload the goods from the street.
