We spend most of our days here on Lothian Road. It gets pretty dusty out there by Kashmere Gate, so there is always a lot of cleaning to do. Most mornings start with a quick sweep of the front step at No. 2713- B before the sun gets too high. We aren’t doing anything fancy or complicated. It is just about getting the dirt off and making things look decent again. Sometimes the traffic is so loud you can’t hear the person standing right next to you, but we are used to it by now. The shelves are full of different bottles and rags that we’ve used for years. We’ve been in this spot for a while and the walls show it. There is a small fan that rattles in the corner and a chair that has seen better days. Customers come in and wait, usually checking their phones or looking out at the street. We don't have a big fancy waiting room or anything like that. Just a few stools and some old magazines. It’s a bit cramped when more than two people are inside at once. Most of the work happens with our hands and a bit of elbow grease. We just keep our heads down and handle the stuff that comes through the door. It’s a simple way to spend the day, really. Nothing much changes around here, and that’s fine with us. We just focus on the job at hand and wait for the evening to roll around.
