Our shop, Shiv Shakti Motors, is tucked away in the Prakashwati Motor Market at No. 767/3. If you’ve ever been to Chabi Gang in Kashmere Gate, you know it’s a total maze. It’s packed with people looking for spare parts and mechanics trying to get a good deal on something specific. We’ve got a small space here, and it’s usually overflowing with boxes and metal bits. The air always smells a bit like oil and old tires, which I guess is just part of the job. It’s not the kind of place where you’d want to wear your best clothes because you’re likely to walk out with a smudge of grease on your sleeve. We spend a lot of time looking through catalogs or climbing up ladders to find that one specific component someone needs for a repair. The market gets incredibly loud by midday, with everyone shouting over the engines and the horns outside. It’s a bit chaotic, honestly, but we’ve gotten used to the pace of things over the years. We don’t have a big fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just us, the inventory, and a lot of paperwork piled on a wooden desk. Sometimes the tea stall guy brings over a glass of chai when we’re having a particularly long afternoon, which helps keep us going through the rush. Most of the time we're just busy sorting through deliveries.
