The motor market is a loud place to work, but you get used to the sound of engines and tools pretty quick. Our spot at 16 A Mithan Lal Motor Market is right near the Old Hindu College, so there is always a mix of mechanics and students walking past our front door. It is a bit of a dusty area, especially in the dry months when the wind picks up. We spend a lot of time just looking for specific parts in the back room or talking to people about what is wrong with their vehicles. It is not the kind of place where you wear a clean shirt and expect it to stay that way until lunch. There are grease marks on the walls and the floor is stained from years of work. Sometimes we just stand out front for a bit to get some air when it gets too stuffy inside. We know most of the other shop owners around here, so we often swap stories or borrow a tool if someone is stuck. It is a simple life, really. We open up, we handle the jobs as they come, and we close when the sun goes down. Nothing too complicated about how we run things, just hard work and a lot of patience with the old machines that people bring in every day. The college students sometimes come by just to ask for directions or help with a flat tire, and we do what we can.
