Jain Free Dawakhana is right in the heart of things at 2864/65 Subzi Mandi Main Bazar Ganta Ghar Near Govind Cinema. If you’ve ever been to the Subzi Mandi market, you know it’s absolute chaos most of the time. There are vegetable sellers everywhere, and the noise from the Main Bazar is something you can’t really escape. The old clock tower, Ganta Ghar, is just a short walk away, which is a great landmark for anyone who gets lost in the winding streets. Our place is located near the old Govind Cinema, which isn't what it used to be, but everyone still knows the name. The building we are in is quite old, with high ceilings and walls that have seen a lot of history. It gets very crowded in the mornings when the market is at its peak, and sometimes it’s hard to even hear someone talking over the shouting of the vendors outside. We have old wooden cabinets that hold everything, and they creak every time you open them. It’s not a modern setup at all, but it fits the vibe of Ganta Ghar perfectly. There’s no air conditioning, just the breeze from the door and a few old fans that hum all day. We spend our time managing the flow of people and trying to keep the dust from the vegetable crates off our ledgers. It’s a lively, loud, and very real place to be every single day.
