So we are based over in Sector II, right near the edge where Delhi meets Haryana. We are in Pocket 04, specifically at Flat No 64. It’s a bit of a trek to get out here sometimes depending on where you are coming from in the city. At Hindustan Construction Company Ltd, we don’t really go for all those big speeches or polished presentations. We mostly just sit around this flat and talk about how many trucks are coming in or why the cement delivery is late again. It’s a practical kind of place. You’ll see plenty of dusty boots near the door and a lot of maps pinned to the walls with various notes scribbled on them. Living and working in this area means we deal with both the city rules and the local stuff that happens on the Haryana side. The sentences we speak are usually about deadlines and costs, not mission statements. We have a small table where we spread out the blueprints for current projects. It is usually covered in coffee rings or crumbs from someone's lunch. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done. The neighborhood is okay, usually quiet except for the construction noise nearby. We just do our work and try to go home on time when the weather allows. It’s been this way for a long time now and we don't see much reason to change how we run things. Our focus stays on the actual construction rather than looking important.
