Hakim Rai Ashok Kumar

Our shop is located at 1089/C in Kucha Natwa, which is right in the middle of Chandni Chowk. If you have ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how crowded and narrow the lanes can be. Hakim Rai Ashok Kumar has been operating from this small spot for a long time. The building is quite old and the lanes outside are always full of people and carts carrying goods. Inside the shop, we have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling. We keep a lot of traditional items and clothes here. It can get a bit dark inside because the buildings are so close together, but we have a few lights to help out. We don't have a big window for display, so you just have to come inside to see what we have. Most of our days are spent talking to customers who have been coming to Kucha Natwa for decades. It is a very traditional way of doing business. We sit on the floor cushions while we show the items. It’s not a modern showroom with air conditioning or anything like that. Just a simple, honest shop in a very historic part of the city. We know the other shopkeepers around us well. We just do our work, drink some tea, and wait for the regulars to stop by. It’s a busy life in Chandni Chowk but we are used to the pace by now. It is what it is.
