You can find us at Steel Tube House in Huaz Qazi, which is a really busy part of old Delhi. It’s 2862 Ashok Rhilla, and if you have ever been down these streets, you know how narrow the lanes are and how many people are always moving around with carts. We’ve been dealing in steel tubes for a long time now. The building is older and the stairs are quite narrow, but it has its own character and always smells like industrial metal and grease. We spend our days surrounded by pipes of every size imaginable. It is always a struggle to keep everything organized when you have so much heavy stock and so little room to move. The shouting of the loaders and the constant honking of the rickshaws outside is just the normal atmosphere for us. We don’t have any fancy displays or a quiet room for people to wait in. You just come in, tell us what size tube you are looking for, and we go see if we have it in the stacks. It is a very traditional way of doing business, mostly face-to-face and with a lot of handshakes. The fans hum overhead to try and keep the heat away, but it rarely helps much when it's the peak of summer. We are just a small piece of the massive trade that happens in Delhi every single day. It is noisy and crowded, but we wouldn’t really know what to do with ourselves in a quiet, modern office environment.
