G N Auto Agencies is right in the middle of Kashmere Gate at 1028 Hamilton Road. If you have ever been to this part of Delhi, you know how chaotic it gets with all the cars and people. There are car parts and scooters everywhere you look. Our shop is tucked in among dozens of others. We deal with various auto components and small parts. Mostly, it is just a lot of boxes stacked up to the ceiling in every corner. We spend our days answering the phone and looking up part numbers in our catalogs. It is greasy work sometimes. My hands are usually dirty by noon from moving things around. We get a lot of local mechanics coming in looking for specific bolts or filters. The traffic on Hamilton Road is always a mess, so we tell people to come early if they want to avoid the worst of it. We have got a small wooden bench where customers wait while we pull things from the back room. There is no fancy air conditioning here, just the big ceiling fan that has been there forever. We know most of the other shopkeepers on the street. We often share tea and complain about the heat. It is a tight community of sorts. We do not have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are. We keep track of everything in big paper ledgers. It is a bit old-fashioned, but it works for us.
