We are located on the first floor of Shrinath Market in Bhagirath Palace. It’s a complete maze in here if you aren't used to it. The stairs are narrow and there's always someone carrying a heavy box up or down, so you have to watch your step. Our unit is 1702/103, which sounds complicated but it's just how the market is laid out. We deal with various goods, mostly things that come in small boxes. The space is pretty packed. We use every inch of the walls for storage. It’s not the kind of place where you’ll find a leather sofa or a coffee machine for guests. We usually just have our tea in steel glasses from the shop at the corner when the boy comes around. The lighting in the market can be a bit dim, but we have our own overhead lamps so we can see what we are doing with the inventory. Working in Bhagirath Palace means you are always in the middle of the action. There's a lot of shouting, bargaining, and the constant sound of packing tape being pulled off rolls. We try to keep our area tidy, but with new stock arriving every other day, it’s a constant battle against the clutter. We’ve been here long enough to know the short cuts through the building. Most of our day is spent checking invoices and making sure the right items go into the right bags for delivery. It’s hard work, but we are used to the pace of the market.
