Apparel Engineers is tucked away at Azad Market 342. It’s a bit of a loud area with all the vehicles and people moving around all day. We do a lot of work with machines and fabric, mostly keeping things running for the smaller shops around here. The floor is usually covered in scraps or some oil marks, but that’s just the nature of the work we do. It’s not a place where you’d find a receptionist or a waiting room. Usually, you’ll just find one of us under a machine with a wrench or checking a motor. We’ve been at this address for quite a few years now. The lights flicker a bit when we turn on the heavy equipment, but we got used to that a long time ago. People come in with broken parts or needing something fixed fast. We don’t always have the answer right away, but we figure it out. It’s hot in the summer because the fans don’t do much against the heat of the engines. We eat our lunch on the back bench while watching the trucks unload outside. It’s a bit dusty, and the noise from the street never really stops. We don’t mind it much. It’s just work. We keep the doors open so a bit of a breeze comes through. If you walk past the big tea stall, you’ll see our number 342 on the door. It’s simple, it’s messy, and it’s how we spend our days in the middle of the market.
