Anand Auto Repairs is located right in the middle of the chaos at 1073 A, Bara Bazar Kahsmere Gate. If you’ve ever been to Kashmere Gate, you know how it is. It’s crowded, loud, and there are parts everywhere. Our shop isn't big, but we’ve managed to fit a lot into 1073 A over the years. We spend our days covered in grease and oil. That’s just the life of a mechanic. We fix whatever comes through the door, mostly older cars that need some extra attention to keep running on these roads. The air is always thick with the smell of petrol and old exhaust. We don’t have a waiting room with a TV or anything like that. People usually just stand around or go get a tea nearby while we work. It’s a lot of manual labor, turning wrenches and figuring out why an engine is making a weird knocking sound. Sometimes we have to hunt for a specific part in the market nearby, which is the benefit of being in Bara Bazar. It’s a messy job, and our hands are never truly clean, but we take pride in getting a car back on the road. We’ve been in this spot for a long time now. The neighbors are all doing similar things, so it’s a community of sorts. We just open the shutters in the morning and see what the day brings. No two days are really the same here.
