Amrit Art Press is based in the Mullapux Building on Roshanara Road. Our door number is 7822-B. The building is quite old and has that specific smell of old concrete and paper. Roshanara Road is a heavy place with lots of trucks and traffic moving toward the old city. It is never really quiet here. We have been in the Mullapux Building for a long time. The space inside is a bit dark, but it’s cool enough even in the summer. We have these large, heavy presses that make a rhythmic thumping sound when they are running. It is like the heartbeat of the place. We don’t have a fancy reception area with a sofa. Most people who come in just stand by the desk and talk to us while we work. There are stacks of old samples in the corners that have been there for years. We never got around to throwing them out. We don’t use any marketing jargon or try to sound like a big corporation. We are just a press on Roshanara Road. Sometimes the machinery breaks down and we have to spend half a day with grease on our elbows fixing it. That’s just part of the deal. We finish our work, lock up the heavy shutters, and head home when the sun goes down. It’s what we do.
