Aks Furnitures

If you go down to Chah Indara near Ajmeri Gate, you will find us at number 2135. We are quite close to the Jhandewalan Mandir, so we hear the bells and the crowds pretty often. The shop always smells like sawdust and wood polish. It is a smell I have grown to love over the years. We spend our days measuring boards, cutting wood, and trying to make pieces that actually fit together well. It is dusty work. No matter how much we sweep, there is always a thin layer of fine wood dust on everything. We don't have a showroom with bright lights and fancy carpets. Our furniture is usually stacked up or being worked on right there on the floor. Aks Furnitures is more of a workshop than a store. We have tools scattered around—saws, hammers, and clamps are everywhere. Sometimes a customer comes in with a drawing on a scrap of paper, and we talk about how to turn it into something real. It takes time and a lot of elbow grease. My hands are usually rough from the work, but I don't mind it. It feels good to build something with your own two hands. We are just a local spot in a busy part of the city, making things that people will use in their homes for a long time. It is honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till night.
