Ajit Electricals

If you go to Dariba Kalan in Chandni Chowk, you’ll find us at 1600-1601. It’s a very old part of the city, and the streets are so narrow you can barely fit a motorbike through some of them during the daytime. Ajit Electricals has been in this exact spot for quite some time now. We handle all sorts of electrical parts and small components that people need. The shop is packed from floor to ceiling with cardboard boxes of all sizes. You really have to know where every single item is kept, or you’ll spend your whole afternoon just searching for one little fuse. It’s always crowded outside with shoppers and laborers carrying heavy loads on their backs. The air is thick with the smell of street food and the constant sound of rickshaw bells and horns. We don't have a lot of space inside the shop, so we have to stay very organized with our stock. It’s a family-run feel here, and we know almost all the other shopkeepers on this block. There isn't any air conditioning in these old buildings, so we rely on those old ceiling fans that have been spinning for decades. We drink cold water from the earthen pots kept in the corner to stay cool during the Delhi heat. It’s not a fancy showroom like you see in the malls. It’s just a real, gritty market shop where we work hard every day.
