Ajanta Cards & Arts

You can find us in Chawri Bazar, right in the heart of Kucha Mir Ashiq at shop number 315. If you’ve ever been to Chawri Bazar, you know how the lanes are—narrow, crowded, and always smelling of paper and ink. Ajanta Cards & Arts is located in one of those old buildings. We have stacks of wedding cards and paper samples piled up almost to the ceiling. The light inside is a bit dim, but we have some bright lamps over the workspace. It’s always noisy outside with the rickshaws and people moving goods. We’ve been at 315 for a long time. The wooden counter we use is worn smooth from years of people leaning on it. We don't have a computer in the front, just a big ledger. Most of our day is spent showing people different designs and textures of paper. It gets very hot in the summer because the air doesn't move much in these alleys. We usually have a cold drink from the vendor next door to keep us going. The floor is made of old stone, and it’s a bit uneven in places. It’s a real old Delhi atmosphere here. We don't try to make it look like a modern boutique. It’s just a shop where cards are made and sold, plain and simple. We like the history of the place. The doorbell is broken so people just knock or yell hello when they walk into the shop to get our attention.
