It’s always crowded with people looking for laces and trimmings. Our spot at 2079, Katra Roshan Udhula, is right in the thick of it. The shop is small and packed from floor to ceiling with zari and embroidery supplies. It can get a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to the chaos of Chandni Chowk. We’ve been here for a long time, and the building shows its age, but it’s sturdy. The light inside isn’t the brightest, but we know where everything is. There’s a specific smell to the old paper and the metallic thread we sell. Customers come in and out all day, mostly locals who have been buying from us for generations. We don't have a big sign or anything. People just know the Aggarwal name in this part of the market. Sometimes it’s hard to move around in the shop when we get a new shipment in. We just stack it up and get through it. It's a busy life here in the Katra. We start early when the rickshaws are just beginning to fill the streets and we don't close until the sun is long gone. It's just the way things are in the old city. It's dusty and loud but we are used to it by now. We focus on the thread and the beads and getting the colors right for everyone.
