Wellcome Beauty Parlour

You can find us on Sodepur Road over in Madhyamgram. This part of North 24 Pargana always seems to be moving fast. We opened Wellcome Beauty Parlour because there were not many places nearby where the local women could just go and get their eyebrows done or get a simple haircut without traveling too far. It’s a modest space, nothing like those expensive salons you see in the middle of Kolkata city. We have a few stations set up for threading and hair washing. Most of our ladies come in on their way home from the market or during the weekends when they finally have a bit of time for themselves. We get a lot of talk about family and what is happening in the neighborhood while we work. During the puja season, it gets incredibly crowded and we are usually on our feet from morning until late at night. Sometimes the power goes out for a bit, but we just open the door for light and keep moving. We use simple stuff that works well. It is not about being fancy here; it is about making sure the person who walked in feels a bit better when they walk out. The sign outside is a bit faded from the sun, but everyone knows where the shop is on Sodepur Road. We just do our work and try to stay helpful to the neighbors who visit us every month.
