Techno Electric & Engineering Co Ltd is tucked away in Bodai, which is part of the North 24 Parganas district. We have been here for a while now, operating out of our space in the village. It is not a flashy office by any means. Most days are spent looking over technical drawings or dealing with parts that arrive on the trucks. The air in Bodai can get quite dusty in the summer months, but we just get on with it. Our team consists of local guys and a few people who commute from further out. Sometimes the power goes out, which is ironic for an electric company, but that is just how it is in this part of West Bengal. We handle a lot of different engineering tasks without making a big deal out of it. The address is easy to find once you get past the main post office. People usually stop by just to ask directions or chat for a bit before we get back to the wires and components. It feels like a quiet spot compared to the city, which suits us just fine. There is a small tea stall just down the road where most of us head during the afternoon break. We don't have fancy brochures or any of that. Most of what we do is just steady work, day in and day out. If you walk past the village school, you are almost there. We have piled up some old equipment in the corner of the yard that we really should clear out one day soon, but there is always something more urgent to do.
