You can find Sri Maa Ayurved Medicine Shop right on Barasat Road in Ghola Bazar. We’re directly opposite the Axis Bank ATM, which makes it easy for people to explain where we are to their friends. The shop is at 40/S/9. It’s a typical local spot. Inside, it smells like herbs and dried plants, which I’ve grown to really like over the years we've been open. We have shelves lined with different medicines and glass bottles that have handwritten labels. It’s not a super modern store with bright neon lights or glass counters. It’s more of a traditional place where people come when they need something specific for their health. Ghola Bazar is always loud and crowded, especially in the mornings when the market is in full swing. We see a lot of the same faces every week and know most of the people by name. People stop by to chat as much as they do to buy things. My father used to help out here, and now I’m the one behind the counter most days of the week. We don't have a website or any big ads in the papers. Word of mouth is how most people find us. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to use candles or a small battery light to see the labels, but we stay open anyway. We just keep things simple. If we don’t have what someone is looking for, we try to order it. It’s a small operation, just me and a helper.
