Simplex Infrastructures Ltd (Marine Div.)

We’ve been based out here in Vill-Ambikanagar for a good while now. It’s a quiet spot in North 24 Parganas, mostly just the usual village life until you get down to the water where our marine division guys are busy. Most of us at Simplex Infrastructures Ltd spend the day dealing with the mud and the tides, which aren’t always on our side. The post office is over at Debalaya, so someone is always heading back and forth for the mail. It gets pretty humid here, and during the monsoon, everything slows down but the work doesn’t really stop. We just put on the boots and keep at it. It’s not a fancy office or anything like that. We have a few desks, lots of maps of the riverbanks, and a kitchen that usually has tea going for anyone coming in from the site. The neighbors know us by now, and we mostly just blend in with the local pace. If you’re looking for us, you have to follow the road past the main village square. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside and talk about the next project. It’s a decent place to work if you don’t mind a bit of dirt and the smell of the river. We just try to get the jobs done right without making too much of a fuss about things. It feels like a real community effort every time we start a new bridge or pier.
