Shop In

Our little place is called Shop In and we are based over at 42-B/2 on Feeder Road. If you know where Bhairab Ganguly College is in Belghoria, then you have probably walked past us a dozen times without thinking much of it. We are right in that busy stretch where the students are always rushing to their classes or hanging out during their breaks. The building we are in has been around for a long time and has that old feel to it. We don't have any big neon signs or anything like that. We just keep the door open and let the breeze in when there is one. Most days it is just a lot of sorting through boxes and making sure everything is where it should be on the shelves. The rain can be a problem here because the road tends to puddle up right in front of our entrance. We keep a few sandbags ready just in case it gets really heavy. It is a small operation, mostly just us and a couple of helpers when things get busy. We get all kinds of people coming in, from the college professors to the local residents who have lived here for forty years. It is nice to be part of the community like this. We usually close up once the street lights come on and the college crowd thins out. It is not a glamorous job, but it keeps us busy and we like the people.
