Royal Bengal Resort

We are over here in Dayapur, right across from that big Sajnekhali Wbtdc Tourist Lodge in the Sundarbans. It's been a long time since we started running Royal Bengal Resort in Gosaba. Living out here is different than the city because everything depends on the tides and the boats coming in from the mainland. Most days it is quiet until the groups arrive and then things get moving pretty fast with the kitchen and getting rooms ready. We spend a lot of time just keeping up with the salt air because it wears things down quick. If you come by boat, you’ll see our sign near the water. We don't have fancy stuff like those huge hotels in Kolkata, but it’s clean enough and the trees are right there. Sometimes the power goes out when it rains hard, but that’s just how it is in Gosaba. We try to keep things simple for the folks who want to see the jungle or take a boat trip through the mangroves. My family helps out with the cooking and the cleaning. It’s hard work keeping a place like this going when the weather is hot, but we’ve got used to it over the years. We see a lot of people who are just tired of the noise and want to sit by the river for a few days. That's mostly what happens around here at our spot in Dayapur. We aren't doing anything grand, just keeping the rooms ready and the tea hot for whoever shows up at the dock.
