N L K Engineering is located out in Sodepur, specifically at Po Jugberia in the 24 Parganas area. We are right on Barasat Road, which is a main route for a lot of the heavy traffic heading through this part of the region. Being a bit further out from the main city center gives us a bit more space for our engineering work. The workshop has been here for a long time, and you can see that in the way the floors are worn and the benches are stained with oil. We handle a lot of metalwork and mechanical repairs, so it’s a noisy and often greasy environment. There is a small office area where we keep the ledger and take calls, but most of our time is spent out on the shop floor. The yard outside is often filled with scrap metal or parts waiting to be worked on. It’s a simple setup, really. We don’t have any air conditioning out in the main area, just a few big fans to keep the air moving on hot days. We know our regulars well—drivers and factory owners who need something fixed quickly. It’s a practical, hard-working atmosphere where we just get on with things without making a big deal out of it. Living and working around Barasat Road means we are used to the dust and the constant sound of trucks passing by outside our gates throughout the day.
