We are located out in Asharu, which is part of the North 24 Parganas district. If you are coming from the main city of Kolkata, it takes a bit of time to reach us here in the village area of Badgah. Mohit Baran Sarkar is the one who handles the day-to-day things at this spot. It isn't a massive factory with glass windows or anything like that. Instead, it is a practical space where we focus on getting the work done every morning. The road outside can get a bit muddy when the monsoon rains hit West Bengal, but we keep the doors open and the fans running. Most of the people working here live nearby, so they just walk or take a cycle to the site. We spend most of our time looking at orders and making sure the items are ready for transport. Sometimes the electricity goes out for an hour, so we just sit outside and talk for a while until it comes back on. It’s a quiet life compared to the big city bustle. We don’t have fancy lunchrooms, just a small corner where we eat our tiffins together. You won’t find any big signs or bright lights here, just a simple gate and the name Metco painted on the wall. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the paperwork piles up on the desks. That is just how it goes when you are busy with the daily grind.
