You can find us at D-2/9 in the Karunamoyee Housing Estate. We are right in the middle of Salt Lake, Kolkata. Working for Lafarge India Pvt. Ltd from here is interesting because Salt Lake is such a specific part of the city. The housing estate is huge and has its own rhythm. We have a small office space here where we manage the West Bengal operations. It is a lot of stairs to climb every day, but we are used to it by now. The office is full of old folders and a few computers that have seen better days. Kolkata is a city that never really stops, and even in Salt Lake, there’s always something happening outside the window. We get our lunch from the local stalls nearby. The paperwork for the cement business is endless, so we spend most of our time typing away or talking to the plant managers on the phone. It isn't a high-tech hub, just a practical space where we do our work. We know the milkman and the postman by name. It feels very connected to the local life. Sometimes the humidity makes everything feel slow, but we keep pushing through the tasks. We don't have a corporate lobby or a big boardroom. We just have a table where we sit and figure things out together. It is an honest day's work in a very old-school Kolkata setting.
